About us

Landcare is about local people getting involved in managing the natural resources of their area. It is about improving the health and productivity of our land and water.

The Far South Coast Landcare Association acts as a focal point and voice for Landcare in this area. We employ a Seedbank Coordinator and Landcare Project Officers.  We work in partnership with the Southern Rivers Catchment Management Authority who are the driving force behind Natural Resource Management in the South East region and who employ a full time Landcare Co-ordinator for the Far South Coast.

We provide assistance to groups and individuals through these positions, with strategic project planning and with technical on-ground support and advice. We also co-ordinate and conduct training forums, workshops and presentations by guest speakers.

For more than 10 years, the Far South Coast Landcare Association has been involved in projects that address issues such as:

·         Gully & riverbank erosion

·         Re-establishing native vegetation

·         Protecting wetlands

·         Improving water quality

·         Addressing weed problems

·         Feral animal control

·         Estuary and dune management

·         Soil health

·         Grazing management

The Far South Coast Landcare Association helps by providing:

Farm planning support for individual landholders
Project development assistance
A community native seed bank
Native vegetation species advice
Tours of Landcare project sites
Educational seminars and field days
Landcare camps for young people
